The Back to Nature Guides
The ‘Back to Nature’ series of guide books - produced in Sweden by Fohrman Aquaristik AB - are a very successful series of hardcover aquarium guides, with every second year (approximately) a new being book released.The books are based on the successful format of plenty of high quality photographs, plus general and technical data, providing detailed yet concise and interesting information for the enthusiast and beginner alike. The authors of each book are renowned for their depth of experience on their specific subject.
Each ‘Back to Nature’ book is published in several languages (seven to eight) and are today one of the most translated series of aquarium books on the market, with despite the high quality, their popularity making it possible for the price to be kept comparatively low.

This latest book deals with the armoured catfish family (Loricariidae), which with more than 700 described species, is one of the largest and most varied groups of fishes known to Man. The object of this book is to provide an introduction to the maintenance and the breeding of these fishes. It covers some 390 of the most important and most interesting ‘L-number catfishes’, listed alphabetically by genus and species, and illustrated in full colour. The book uses easily understood symbols to provide details of eventual size and maintenance for each species, and is illustrated with more than 640 colour photos.
Chapters: What are L-number catfishes. What should be considered when buying loricariid catfishes. How to tell the sexes apart. What is the natural habitat of these fishes like. The Author
| Ingo Seidel has been working intensively with the armoured catfish family (Loricariidae) for more than 20 years. During this time he has maintained countless species in his aquaria and has often successfully bred them. He has undertaken numerous expeditions to various South American countries to study the natural ecology of these catfishes and has garnered copious new information on their requirements. He has made every effort to pass on his extensive knowledge of loricariid catfishes in numerous lectures and articles, as well as in books like this one. | ![]() |
